The 3rd International Conference on Recent Trends in Materials Science and Technology 2026 (ICMST-2026) is an in-house conference of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram. It is being jointly organized by IIST and the Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Thiruvananthapuram Chapter, from 19-21 November, 2026, at the IIST campus. The ICMST series was first held in 2010, with its second edition in 2018. In parallel, the national version of the conference, known as NCMST (National Conference on Recent Trends in Materials Science), has been conducted annually since 2011. The 12th edition of NCMST was held in December 2025. The theme of ICMST-2026 is 'Next Generation Materials: Bridging Science, Technology, and Society.'

Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, functions as an autonomous body under the Department of Space (DoS), Government of India. Materials Research Society of India (MRSI) is an interdisciplinary professional body, based in Bengaluru, dedicated to stimulating growth of indigenous research in materials science. The Thiruvananthapuram chapter is one of the most active chapter featuring members from leading institutes including VSSC, CSIR-NIIST, SCTIMST, IISER Tvm, University of Kerala, LPSC and IIST.
