Abstract: Coronal fan loops rooted in sunspot umbra constantly show 3-minute period propagating slow magnetoacoustic waves in the corona. Since these loops are not visible in the lower atmosphere, the origin of these waves in the lower solar atmosphere is still unclear. In this talk, we will demonstrate a novel observational technique to trace the origin of these waves at the photosphere from the corona to the photosphere via the transition region and chromosphere. Tracing of these loops also provides observational evidence of cross-sectional area expansion of the loops from the photosphere to the corona. This information is further utilized to study the actual damping of slow waves and estimation of magnetic fields and plasma-beta along umbral loops. In summary, we will present the source region, propagation, damping, and seismological application of 3-minute slow waves from the photosphere to the corona along umbral fan loops.
